NEC PC Engine Interface Unit
The NEC PC Engine Interface Unit (IFU-30 / IFU-30A), often nicknamed the "briefcase," is a docking base released in 1988 in Japan. It physically and electronically links the original NEC PC Engine or CoreGrafx console to the CD-ROM² drive, upgrading the system with composite video, stereo audio outputs, and internal save-data battery backup capabilities.
